APM Project ProfessionalThe proposed APM Project Professional standard will recognise all professionals working in project management, including project and programme managers and specialists such as planners, risk managers and project controllers. The standard encompasses the APM 5 Dimensions of Professionalism and focuses on a rigorous assessment of competence which recognises that project professionalism is achieved through both academic and experiential learning. In keeping with organisations that set standards for other professions, APM will maintain a register of project professionals on behalf of the profession, promoting the quality and achievement that a position on the register confirms, to employers and the wider public. Those achieving the proposed APM Project Professional standard will demonstrate their professionalism through APM’s 5 Dimensions of Professionalism. Once the pilot of the standard has been completed, full details of the requirements will be available as part of the launch of the standard. Satisfying The APM Project Professional Standard The Project Professional standard will recognise practitioners who can demonstrate the capabilities of a responsible leader, have the ability to manage a complex project and use appropriate project management tools, processes and techniques. The Application Process and Assessment Candidates will complete an online application and e-portfolio of evidence which includes:
The process of assessment will include a desk-top assessment of the e-portfolio. If successful at the desk-top assessment, candidates will be invited to attend a 45 minute interview which will include a short presentation on personal achievements and responsible leadership, based on projects included in their project-based CV.
