APM People Specific Interest Group

Who we are:

For too long, there has been an emphasis on technical process as the solution to delivering successful projects. Our profession is awakening to the fact that successful projects are in fact delivered through people, working effectively as a team, engaging stakeholders and being inspired by top class project leaders.

Our aim is to lead the project management community forward in the areas of project and organisational culture, communication, structure, leadership and teamwork. We encourage relationships to be built through networking and educational events. People are then able to share knowledge, experience and insights, leading to the development of innovative approaches and best practice. This knowledge can then be disseminated throughout industry via the APM.

What we do:

Articles :
We want to be more visible in the project management community. With a great set of assets under our belt, we shall be writing a series of articles based on the 2007 workshops. These articles will be distributed to SIG members and the wider PM community. With any luck, we will also persuade Project magazine to publish a few! Topics will include:

 • Project management versus change management

 • The subjectivity of project success

 • Creating an appropriate project culture

 • Creativity

 • Project management versus general management

 • Accelerating team performance

Presentations :
We will continue to present the work of the SIG wherever the opportunity arises. We will be proactively seeking out a wider audience for our talks utilising the workshop assets. If you know of any opportunities for us to present then please get in touch with Paul Erricker, our communications co-ordinator.
