Kay Martin, BT/Liverpool Direct Ltd, scooped top prize in the Project Manager of the Year category, for her role in the Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) Liverpool, at the 2008 APM Project Management Awards.

Kay was involved in the provision of ICT infrastructure and associated services to ACC Liverpool, which has since played host to a number of events as part of the city’s European Capital of Culture celebrations.

The judges praised Kay’s role in delivering such a high profile project and her ability to successfully manage changing timescales while maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders.

“The highly complex nature of the project is evident, as is its importance to the city of Liverpool, the Capital of Culture, and the fact that it was successfully delivered is a testament to the candidate’s skills and qualities,” said the judges.
“The candidate also demonstrated good skills for strategic business case development in a project management environment with good governance and effective decision-making to make things happen.”

With comprehensive project controls across the projects and risk management methods from the beginning to the end of the project, Kay kept the project under control to deliver on time and to budget.

“It’s been a long road getting here, but it’s been really good that it’s been acknowledged not only by APM but also by people that I have worked closely with,” said Kay.
