Timetable and feedback
“Royal Charters are granted by the Sovereign on the advice of the Privy Council …. new Charters are normally reserved for bodies that work in the public interest (such as professional institutions and charities) and which can demonstrate pre-eminence, stability and permanence in their particular field.” Privy Council, 2007
In January 2007 the APM Board resolved to embark on a programme for the association to attain the position of Chartered Status. This comprises two principal components – to become chartered as an organisation and to operate a register of Chartered practitioners. A draft Royal Charter and By-Laws is now available, any queries regarding Chartered status can be directed to chartered@apm.org.uk.
In November 2007 the APM Annual General Meeting unanimously voted to approve the motion to petition for a Charter and to create a register of practitioners. Following the receipt of 45 written letters and over £100,000 of donations from corporate organisations in support of the application, the preliminary application was made to the Privy Council in April 2008.
