APM Value Management Specific Interest Group
The Value Management SIG was re-launched in September 2006. Seven new committee members have come together to work towards making value management relevant to project managers.
One of our first objectives is to find out what members of the APM understand and think about value management. We have, therefore, developed a questionnaire in order to better understand the issues around the use of value management. This questionnaire is specifically aimed at project managers. It is hoped that by understanding your needs and requirements, we can attempt to make value management more relevant for this particular group of users. The British standard for Value Management states the definition of Value Management to be:- Value Management is a style of management, particularly dedicated to motivating people, developing skills and promoting synergies and innovation, with the aim of maximising the overall performance of an organisation. Value Management (VM)
Applied at the corporate level, Value Management relies on a value-based organisational culture taking into account Value for both stakeholders and customers. At the operational level (project oriented activities), it implies, in addition, the use of appropriate methods and tools.
