Vice Presidents

Don Heath

Donald has been a key member of APM for many years and has made major contributions to both the profession as a whole and to APM specifically. He joined Council in 1994, subsequently taking the chair of the R & D committee and Professional Board and became chairman of the association in 1998.

 

He is a Certificated Project Manager and has recently retired from a senior position with Virgin Rail. He has had a long and successful career as a project manager in the rail industry and was closely associated with the East Coast Electrification project in the 1980s.

 

Professor Peter Morris

Peter is Professor of Construction and Project Management at University College London and executive director of INDECO. He has been APM chairman and vice president and was deputy chairman of IPMA.  He is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Chartered Institute of Building, the Royal Society of Arts, Commerce and Manufacturing and an Honorary Fellow of APM. He is on the editorial boards of The International Journal of Project Management, the Project Management Journal, and the Journal of Project Management.

 

He is the author of The Management of Projects, co-author of Translating Corporate Strategy into Project Strategy and The Anatomy of Major Projects as well as co-editor of The Wiley Guide to Managing Projects. He is the author of over 110 papers on the management of projects.

 

Miles Shepherd

Miles Shepherd has been involved with the management of projects for more than 30 years, first with the British Army and then with AEA Technology. He now runs his own company and travels widely lecturing and working in the project management world.

 

Miles was elected chairman in 2001 and became president of IPMA in 2003. He lectures on project management for the Open University in the United Kingdom, USA and Eastern Europe. He is a research supervisor with interests centring on the project manager as a professional. He has acted as an industry specialist in project management for the validation of postgraduate programmes at Bournemouth University and is an examiner in project management for the British Computer Society’s Information System Examinations Board.  

 

Tom Taylor

Tom is an experienced, front-line project manager with over thirty years of commitment and enjoyment, often with complex construction elements.

 

He is a founding partner of Buro Four, which he established in 1985. Buro Four has offices in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Solihull. Recent commissions involving Tom include the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) Centenary Project and the National Tennis Centre for the Lawn Tennis Association. He is a former chairman and is currently a retained advisor.

 

He is also a principal of the consultancy, dashdot, an independent consultancy and training organisation which works with a variety of media, situations and difficulties.

Tom has had a varied involvement with APM Branch, Council and Executive Board levels, and was APM chairman from 2004-06.

 

Professor Rodney Turner

Rodney is Professor of Project Management at the Lille Graduate School of Management and at the Kemmy Business School of the University of Limerick

 

Rodney is the author or editor of nine books, including The Handbook of Project-based Management and the Gower Handbook of Project Management. He is editor of The International Journal of Project Management and has written articles for journals, conferences and magazines. He lectures on and teaches project management world wide.

 

Professor Turner has been a member of APM Council as treasurer and chairman. He has been president and chairman of the International Project Management Association and is a member of the Institute of Directors, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and of APM.
