I have worked as an infrastructure project manager for nearly four years and would like to move into the banking and financial services sector. The catch 22 is that I don't currently have experience of the sector meaning that I am unlikely to find a role giving me the chance to gain that experience... Does anyone have any advice on the best ways to move into this sector, or details of organisations that help with this, or any contacts that might help? Thanks.
I know that you have to be a full member to put MAPM after your name but my question is just about belonging to the APM when asked what organisations you belong to are members permitted to discibe themselves as a Member of the Association of Project Managers without saying what level of membership they have? For example I have seen on Cvs Member othe Association of Project Managers but I don't know if this means they are full members or not.
I want to interest about that I want to learn PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner online. I found a website (company) where I can do that. I just want to ask, is it a good choise? If I will finish this coure, they give me an "everywhere accepted" certeficate? Or can someone recommend an other (reliable) company where I can learn the Prince2 Foundation and Practitioner?

What is the relationship between the APM vetted 'full membership' grade (MAPM), where you have to demonstrate 5 yrs of experience, and the raft of APM exams, and the RPP, which seems to be similar to the MAPM, but involves a more in depth review of one's experience. I have just attained MAPM, but I am very confused by the levels of certification and how they relate together.
For instance under 'APM Membership' it says "Qualifications offer routes into APM membership" (in what way? are they a substitute for experience?).
I have recently graduated from University with a general Business degree. I managed to find employment with a small property repair, maintenance and construction company on the south coast which deals with market leading insurance companies on a day to day basis.
Since working for this company I have taken on large amounts of responsibility in terms of managing small building projects and have realised that I enjoy managing projects and would love to start a career as a project manager.
I have recently passed my APMP and have consequently become an Associate; my organisation is a follower of PRINCE2 and there are no APM members available to help me with my Continuous Professional Development and (hopefully) progression into full membership.
Is there a way of finding if there is anyone geographically close to me who may be able to help?
What have other associates done when they need to provide referees for full membership application?
My organisation is currently piloting the JIVE collaboration/social networking tool and I'd be intertested to hear anybody's positive or negative experiences of using this to support their project work.
I intend to enrol on a course which will provide me with a qualification which reflects my experience (about 20 years in refurbishment, small construction and fit-out projects), is appropriate to my work sector and is well recognised by potential client bodies - mainly commercial, plc and private organisaitons. Does anyone have a view on the specific benefits of the options available - APMP, Prince2 and PMP? I would opt for APMP - but I'm interested in how the different options compare or differ.
Does anyone have a guide (1 pager/diagram) on best practise in document version control? I have looked everywhere and cannot find one. I need something to explain the review process in getting a document from a draft v0.1, to an approved v1.0 etc I have seen good guides on this in the past but cannot find anything now.
I am part of the APM Membership Development team and I have been asked by one of our clients if we can help with a requirement they have for a German speaking trainer who would be able to deliver an APMP course.
