This presentation traces the development and illuminates key aspects of the project management profession.
Great and deadly projects is an illustrated talk that examines some of the less well known aspects of well known projects and some lesser known but still fascinating works from the last few thousand years. It traces the development of the project management profession over the last 30 years.
It asks if we are any better today than our forefathers; and what has changed since the great Victorian engineers. The answers to these questions are both surprising and controversial.

Geoff Reiss has worked as a speaker, writer, trainer, mentor and consultant in project and programme management, in both the public sector, business and the academic environments.
He has researched many of the great projects from history and written and presented motivational talks at a variety of conferences and webinars on this topic. He wrote a Great Projects from the Past article in Project Manager Today and has just retuned from a trip up the Panama Canal.
Previous delegates have said this about Geoff;
"He explored the changing role and image of the project management professional before peeking into the future to ask where the profession might go next. He has the ability to cut through to the quick of these matters and to highlight what really counts. Great service and excellent communication."
"Geoff is a great speaker and motivator showing project managers that projects are certainly about planning, budgeting, progress tracking, etc. but more importantly that project managers can contribute with project outcomes to facilitating lives."
"From the first word, he commands full attention and gets the "heads up" from his audience. A witty and dynamic presenter, the skills that distinguish his work are communicating serious messages in a highly entertaining way and the ability to bring a theme alive to a varied audience."
