PMO - what does it really stand for?
Everyone has a favourite view of what "PMO" stands for - some of them not very complimentary, some factual. Unlike the profession of project management, which is commonly understood and pretty stable, PMOs are very much the "new kids on the block" and not just at the APM.
This session will track the development of PMOs in their various guises and give you an understanding of some of the services and functions that can be performed in and from a PMO. It will also help all project and programme management professionals gain an appreciation of why many businesses are seeing PMOs as the "missing link" that is necessary to establish and improve project selection and delivery standards and records in their organisation.
In true APM PMOSIG tradition, attendees will have an opportunity to absorb, share and discuss what PMOs can offer their organisations.
Stuart Dixon is a PMO Manager working for AXA PPP healthcare, and has 20 years of experience in PMOs. He is a committee member of the APM PMO SIG and has presented at PMO SIG events both locally and nationally. He has a passion for PMOs, tinged with the realities of executing this vision in practice.
