This presentation will suit project professionals with any level of experience. In launching the Office of Government Commerce’s Guide to Portfolio Management, OGC’s then Chief Executive described Portfolio Management (PfM) as “a discipline whose time has come."
Nigel Bell will argue that portfolio management is in fact a discipline which has been developed and deployed in different industries and functions over many years; what is new is its visibility and, potentially, its universality. He will explore some of the fundamental principles of PfM, its maturity as a discipline, and some of the challenges which lie in store for those seeking to reap its benefits. Nigel is keen to do the topic justice whilst allowing plenty of time for discussion.

Nigel works to improve the performance of organisations, programmes and projects and their leaders, either through providing constructive challenge, coaching and support or, where appropriate, taking on responsibility and accountability for delivery himself. His work has recently focused on the assurance of high risk change projects and programmes in UK government and on "surrogate client" bid improvement work for major service providers.
His specialities are change leadership, programme leadership and bid management. He is also a member of the APM Portfolio Management SIG.
