Agile is being increasingly used as a standard method of project delivery, particularly software projects. However, agile projects pose particular challenges to the project assurance community.

Following the APM Knowledgeshare conference held on June 29th and 30th 2011 a white paper on the subject of 'measures for assurance' has been produced by a working group of APM Assurance SIG members. The working group have responded to the questions 'Is it possible to 'measure a project's health'? and 'What techniques can be used to provide consistent and reliable assessments of projects' likelihood to achieve their objectives?' The white paper proposes one approach to achieving this; it also provides a framework for the coordination of a wide variety of assurance activity.

The Assurance SIG held its’ Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 30th of June 2011. The following AGM management committee was elected: Chairman - Roy Millard Secretary - David Bright Committee members - Naveed Sheikh, Peter Parkes, Roger Hankey, Mushtaq Ali

Knowledgeshare 2011 was held on the 29th and 30th of June 2011 in London and over 100 people saw 22 presentations from 10 different APM Specific Interest Groups on varied topics such as planning, assurance, value management, benefits management and earned value.

The APM Portoflio Management SIG and the APM Assurance SIG presented a joint event entitled Assuring successful delivery of the portfolio. Almost 70 people attended to hear keynote speaker Terry Morgan, Chairman of Crossrail, speak about the project. The slides from the event can be downloaded from this page

On the 28th and 29th of May 2009, the APM held the inaugural Knowledgeshare event at UCL in London. The event was hosted by 4 specific interest groups, the Governance of Project Management SIG, the Planning SIG, the Project and Programme Assurance SIG and the Programme Management SIG. Around 90 people attended both days of Knowledgeshare 2010 last week at The Kings Fund in London to hear 35 presentations by a number of APMs Specific Interest Groups. This story briefly reviews Knowledgeshare 2010 and provides access to the presentations from the event.
