On Tuesday 18th September the South Wales & West of England (SWWE) Branch hosted the People SIG for the full day event ‘Personal Resilience: Rising to the Challenge of Project Management’, as almost 70 delegates listened to four speakers exploring Resilience from a range of approaches.

For the first ‘Resilience’ theme event in the People SIG calendar we were joined by Nick Fewings of The Colour Works for an evening of colourful entertainment and some useful insights into ourselves and colleagues.

On the 14th March 2012, the People SIG continued to build on the inputs from the first Culture ‘Development Workshop’ held in December 2011, in order to evolve tangible ‘assets’ for the wider PM community to use.

On Friday 9th December the People SIG brought a group of project professionals together to discuss Culture in a development workshop, facilitated by SIG committee member Sheilina Somani, which sought to establish what themes and deliverables might add value to the wider APM community. Our People SIG library is a freely accessible resource for all APM members and provides:
- Collateral from experienced professionals
- Content for every individual, team and organisation
- Tools for development, stimulus, consolidation
- Analysis and problem solving approaches
- Valuable insights, stories and outputs
For too long, there has been an emphasis on technical process as the solution to delivering successful projects. Our profession is awakening to the fact that successful projects are in fact delivered through people, working effectively as a team, engaging stakeholders and being inspired by top class project leaders.
Our aim is to lead the project management community forward in the areas of project and organisational culture, communication, structure, leadership and teamwork. We encourage relationships to be built through networking and educational events. People are then able to share knowledge, experience and insights, leading to the development of innovative approaches and best practice. This knowledge can then be disseminated throughout industry via the APM.
