Each year the APM Scotland Branch holds a project management competition for teams of students, graduates or young project managers. The competition provides teams with a useful opportunity to work through the complete life cycle of a project from conception to close-out.

The APM Scottish Conference 2013 took place in Edinburgh on the 17th of April 2013. Over 100 people were in attendance to hear presentations around the theme of delivering the vision of a world where all projects succeed. Richard Noble of the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car project was the keynote speaker and was followed by Dr. Richard Blanchfield of NorthConnect.

The Aberdeen Chapter hosted an Olympics themed dinner on 27th February, to hear from Martyn Lass who was recently awarded an MBE for services to construction and particularly for his role as enabling works project manager at the London Olympic Park at Stratford.

The site visit comprised a presentation entitled “The Scottish Crime Campus: Procurement and Risk” by Fergus Taylor, Sweett Group’s project director responsible for delivery of the Scottish Crime Campus project who has been involved in the project since its first inception in 2002.

After a successful event in Cardiff in January 2012, the Risk SIG decided to run a similar event in 2013. Working closely with our colleges in the Scottish Branch, Glasgow was the chosen venue. The aim of the day was to run four interactive workshops focussing on four of the elements of the Risk Management process as defined in the PRAM Guide. The day was aimed at those newer to risk management or wanting a refresher.
