Olympic Stadium project manager to speak at APM Conference
The preparations for London 2012 and the early delivery of the facilities a year ahead of schedule have been a major talking point in the project management community, with the Olympic Stadium being the jewel in the crown.
APM’s privileged position as an Olympic Delivery Authority Learning Legacy Partner allows for the APM Conference, taking place on Wednesday 27th June, to offer an unprecedented opportunity to hear the story of the London 2012 Olympic programme direct from the team that delivered it, just before the games open in July.
The day would not be complete without hearing from those responsible for the Olympic Stadium. Jim Neill (pictured) is company chief engineer at Sir Robert McAlpine and will offer delegates the unique prospect to engage with the experience, share the insights and learn the lessons from the design and construction of the Olympic Stadium. Jim will be speaking alongside Simon Wright, director of venues & infrastructure at the Olympic Delivery Authority and Caroline Blackman, head of organisation development at the Olympic delivery partner CLM.
With only four weeks until the conference, ensure you don’t miss out on this great opportunity and book your place at the APM Conference today.
In 2006 Jim took up the role of bid manager for the tender process for the Olympic Stadium. His spell on the Olympics continued into the design and construction phases where he was a senior manager in the project team taking responsibility for the management and delivery requirements of key stakeholders including Town Planning, LOCOG, Utilities, Legacy and Works Information.
Jim is a Chartered Civil Engineer having worked for Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd since graduating in 1989. In his early years he worked on a number of heavy civil engineering projects including Sellafield nuclear reprocessing facility and Sizewell B nuclear power station. He has held a variety of roles within the company including construction, design and head office where he spent 10 years working on PFI projects and heading the company’s business systems department. Very much a team player, Jim’s pro-active attitude complemented by a positive approach to resolving problems combined with commitment, collaboration, honesty and strong interpersonal skills are key to the way he works.
Jim will be joined in the speaker line-up by Dr. Ed Hoffman, director of the NASA Academy; Lord Andrew Mawson OBE; Peter Fielder, managing director of performance excellence at BAE Systems; Ailie MacAdam, project director for Crossrail; Richard Noble OBE, project director of BLOODHOUND project and Mark Butler, programme manager at Virgin Galactic plus many more. With more speakers still to be announced, the APM Conference is a day not to be missed. See full list of speakers.
