That was the month that was

Domain knowledge, does it really matter? Well, not if you know a good electrician. Project managing his house renovation, friend of Project, PPM expert, author and all round good egg Peter Parkes admitted he had no idea where the ‘green and blue’ wires went. Luckily for Peter, ‘experts’ were on hand to finish the job (and make safe the twin core brown and blue wires).

Sex appeal

Former TV Apprentice Claire Young reckons PMs are a boring bunch. She told Project that the kids just don’t get it. In fact any mention of the word, PM, and they just switch off. So what’s to be done? Well, according to Claire, who’s on a one-woman mission to up-skill the nation’s youth, the trick is to rebrand and go for something a bit sexier. Something like, ‘Enterprise’, which as it happens, is what Ms Young specialises in… and for £££ per hour you too can learn to boost your sex appeal.

Tough assignment

How do you top the London 2012 build experience? You go and have a baby, of course. After finishing next March, CLM infrastructure director Louise Hardy is embarking on her toughest assignment yet, motherhood. And just to add to the level of complexity, she’s gearing-up to deliver not one, but two new projects next year. “I don’t think I’ll ever be too far from a big project or programme,” she said. All the best Louise!

And finally…

Congratulations to our very own eagle-eye project controller Jack Dalton who spotted an error in October’s Project. Jack says he's never seen such “colourful use of language” and having seen the offending item, we agree. Clearly, the ‘close look’ at the latest PM product releases wasn’t close enough!
