Rules of entry to the APM Awards

  1. All projects should be submitted with APM's entry cover sheet, which includes a declaration of suitable involvement in the entry by the applicant.
  2. The same project or programme and its material may not be submitted as the basis for entry into more than one award category.
  3. Applicants decide on the category to enter. An entry that doesn’t meet the entry criteria of the chosen category may result in a reduced score or complete rejection of the entry submitted.
  4. All entries must cover project work that is either completed or at the end of a major phase so there is evidence of outcome / benefits.
  5. Entries must not exceed the stated page count for that category. Those entries that overrun the size requirements will be subject to a mark deduction. Please note: All relevant diagrams and images must be included within the stated page count for each category if they are to be considered as part of the entry.
    The size maximums are:
    • The academic awards follow a one stage process, involving the submission of the full dissertation accompanied by a two page summary.
    • Stage 1 (for non-academic) entries should be no more than 6 sides of A4 in a readable font (minimum font size of Arial 10) including testimonials plus APM's cover sheet with a maximum file size of 5MB.
    • The Mike Nichols Award for Inspiration entries should be no more than 3 sides of A4 in a readable font excluding testimonials and cover sheets with a maximum file size of 5MB.
  6. All work submitted must have been done by the entrant and with permission from the project sponsor or manager as detailed on the respective cover sheet.
  7. Entries submitted after the deadlines will be subject to mark deduction.
  8. Entries will only be accepted when submitted in the English language.
  9. By submitting any materials, you grant APM permission to utilise them in promotions and other activities relating to the APM Project Management Awards, unless specified otherwise by the entrant.
  10. The content of all submissions remains, at all times, the copyright of the entrant, but APM may wish to reproduce some relevant content for the purpose of promotional materials such as: APM Award winners’ case-studies, PR or other. If an entrant does not wish to give automatic permission for material to be reproduced, without prior discussion, this must be noted on the Entrants’ Cover Sheet.
  11. APM reserves the right to accept or reject entries, and / or not make an award, as circumstances dictate.
  12. Award submissions must be in Microsoft Word or PDF format and sent in by email, CD or USB memory flash drive. The maximum submission size is 5MB.

  14. APM does not accept DVDs, audio or video submissions or supporting materials at stage 1.
  15. All finalists must submit visual material and company logos (if appropriate) for use at the awards dinner and other supporting activities.
  16. The judging panel will consist of experienced experts in their field.
  17. The judges’ decision is final. No correspondence concerning their decision will be entered into.
  18. The project / programme described must either be finished and the end of the project not more than 12 months from the deadline date of stage 1 submission, or a significant phase finished by the deadline date of stage 1 submission.
  19. Entrants to the Young Project Professional of the Year must be aged 29 years or under at the deadline date of stage 1 submission.
  20. All submissions are made at the expense of the applicants. No submission will be returned once the judging process is complete.
  21. APM board members, committee members, members of other APM groups, staff and judges are subject to the association’s conflict of interest policy, Board Member Code of Conduct and the APM Code of Professional Conduct.  Any breaches will be addressed through the existing mechanisms, including the APM Professional Conduct Procedural Rules.
