Tamkeen - governance and humanitarian support in the midst of violent conflict
The Tamkeen programme was implemented by Adam Smith International from 2013 to 2016, in opposition-held parts of Syria. The programme sought to support Syrian communities to build good governance while simultaneously satisfying humanitarian needs. The DFID-funded programme was widely hailed as a success, despite operating in a constantly changing environment.
