Challenges of a complex nuclear site
Sellafield has led the development of the UK’s nuclear industry for over 70 years and is home to more than 200 nuclear facilities. Today Sellafield Ltd is managing the challenge of cleaning up the legacy of the site’s early operations, including some of the most hazardous nuclear facilities in Europe.
Rebecca will provide delegates with an insight into how Sellafield Ltd, the company responsible for safely delivering decommissioning of the UK’s nuclear legacy on the Sellafield site, is continuing to deliver a portfolio of capital projects, ranging from small ‘asset care’ type projects to multi million pound nuclear projects, while managing one of the largest construction sites in Europe.
She will describe the site’s long history in delivering projects from the early days as a nuclear pioneer to the present day, describing the challenges in delivering projects on a UK Nuclear Licensed site. The presentation will highlight the essential component of successful project delivery, our people, and the importance of developing their skills and professional development.
