What is the Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) standard?

The Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) standard is a professional benchmark that demonstrates attainment of a defined level of technical knowledge, professional practice and ethical behaviour.

It forms the basis of the assessment that applicants must pass to gain ChPP status and inclusion on the Register of Chartered Project Professionals.

ChPP is for anyone that meets all of the following criteria:

You do not need to be an APM member to apply.

Chartering a safer future for the built environment

Do you work in the built environment? As of 1 October 2023 you now need to prove you have the competence or are supervised by a competent project professional as defined in the Buildings Safety Act to manage the construction of buildings of any size. Our chartered standard has been named as a way of proving professional competence. Those who hold ChPP and have the relevant experience in the built environment, will be regarded as being able to demonstrate competence until September 2025.

You can find out more about the changes here. Register your place for the upcoming webinar.

This means that if you have successfully passed the assessment you’ll be eligible to apply for the Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) standard via Route 1 (for assessments meeting the requirements for technical knowledge) or Route 2 (for assessments meeting the requirements for technical knowledge and professional practice).
