Senior Responsible Owner (SRO): Joint Crypt-Key Programme / Head MOD Cryptographic Enterprise
Adrian Randall graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 1998 with a degree in Cartographic science and Remote Sensing, joining the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) the same year.
Early career roles at the Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) in Northwood, London - providing Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) operational support as part of operational risk analysis.
Transitioning to project and programme management, Adrian went on to MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol in 2005. Throughout this time, he worked extensively with the US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), NATO and other Allied partners to develop and deliver intelligence and network-centric collaborative capabilities.
In 2014, he headed the Coalition Intelligence & Exploitation team. This role saw him act as the UK lead across a series of intelligence capabilities (Maritime Signals Intelligence and battlefield intelligence exploitation), working closely with the US agencies, partners across NATO, 5-Eyes and the Far East.
More recently Adrian has moved to Cyber Defence & Risk within MOD Strategic Command. His roles have included leading teams of cyber specialists to advise largescale Defence projects and programmes and working in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to transform the MODs cryptographic enterprise.
Promoted to Senior Civil Servant (SCS-1) in 2021 he was appointed as Defence Digital Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) – Defensive Cyber Transformation (Cyber resilience, defensive cyber operations and defence digital identity). Adrian transitioned to the role of SRO Joint Crypt-Key Programme and Head of the MOD Cryptographic Enterprise in November 2022.
Adrian served as an Army Reservist between 1996-2011.
