Dr Jon Broome, Managing Consultant, Leading Edge Projects Consulting Ltd.

Dr Jon Broome is the managing consultant of leading edge projects consulting ltd and has been chair of the Contracts & Procurement SIG for far too long. He is the co-editor of the Procurement Guide. He consults internationally on contract strategy, drafting contracts and technical requirements, dispute resolution and as an expert witness. While his ‘home’ sector is construction and heavy engineering, it has also included assignments in the IT, aerospace, shipbuilding, energy and defence sectors. While each sector has its nuances, he has found that the principles and processes in the Guide hold true regardless of which sector you operate in.

 

Alastair Greenan, Progate Consulting

Alastair has over 25 years Project and Programme Management experience across a wide number of industry sectors including Oil and Gas, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Power and Defence.

Currently Alastair is working as a Project Manager for an Oil and Gas super major and is in the final stages of delivering a fast track, $600M Infrastructure Project in a remote desert environment in the Middle East.
 
Through his work as a Committee Member for the APM's Contracts and Procurement SIG, Alastair has been a Contributor to the APM's Body of Knowledge, co-author of the NEC Short Services Contract and most recently a Contributor to the APM's Procurement Guide. Alastair is a Chartered Engineer with Fellowships awarded by the APM, the Institute of Risk Management and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

 

Steve Emerton, Director for Specialised Commissioning, NHS England in the South East

Steve is a clinically trained health services specialist with over 25 years’ experience and expertise in health services and commercial settings including commissioning, contract, programme and project management.

Steve's roles have included working in all aspects of health care in commissioning/buying and provider Hospitals within the NHS.  He also brings recent infrastructure, commercial and contract negotiation experience within the Oil and Gas and the 3rd Sectors and is currently in the role NHS England (South East) Delivery Director for Specialised Services with a portfolio responsibility for integrating these services into emerging NHS structures.  These STPs or Sustainability and Transformation Planning groups bring together the commissioning and buying responsibilities of Clinical Commissioning Groups, County Councils and NHS England together with health care delivery of our Hospital Trusts in Kent, Sussex, Surrey and South London.


John Lake, BSc CEng RPP MAPM MIET, Project Manager, Managing Consultant, IEC Networking Ltd.

Since graduating with an electronics degree, John’s career has spanned 30+ years. He has held positions in technical, project and general management within companies ranging from SME’s to large corporations. He has experience of both sides of the subcontracting equation and is keen to share this knowledge base with others and wishes to promote best practice within the professional project management community.

 

James Buckley-Walker, BComm BPC MAPM. Partner, 3PM

James has over 15 years’ experience managing large scale construction projects in Australia and the UK in both client and contractor-side roles. In his early career James delivered some of Australia’s largest, high profile residential and commercial projects, before moving to the UK and becoming Partner at 3PM; a Project, Programme and Portfolio Management consultancy based in London.

More recently James has specialised in the Life Science and Higher Education sectors delivering complex projects and programmes for private and public clients, all of which necessitate dynamic procurement and contracting strategies to facilitate the delivery of complex built assets on live campuses. James is a strong advocate of collaboration in the industry and runs 3PM’s Science & Technology forum that encourages innovation and knowledge-sharing with clients and industry partners.

 

Anne Holden, CH2MHill

Anne Holden from CH2MHill is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer working mostly in Defence and Nuclear.  She has particular experience in business development - so pre-contract in Procurement guide speak, business strategy and procurement strategy development.

Anne has worked in large and small companies both customer side and supplier side and offers a broad insight into contract development and operation.
