Sandie Grimshaw, Global Leader PwC Consulting Portfolio and Programme Management, PwC

Sandie is PwC's global lead for programme and project management and works closely with partners to shape and deliver complex, global transformation programmes. She has extensive experience in supporting central government programmes, including supporting the DMI project to manage ~£4bn of government debts at the Cabinet Office and the Defence Infrastructure Organisation transformation at the MOD.

Session title: Portfolio Management and Brexit

With Brexit significantly impacting organisations across the UK and beyond Sandie will explore the importance of effective portfolio management and highlight how organisations can prepare for the impact of such monumental change.  They key question is "how do organisations manage the collective impact of Brexit on their projects and programmes balancing risk, cost and benefits against the uncertainty of the emerging political and economic changes?"

Tracy Wadsworth, Head of Group Change Practice, Lloyds Banking Group

Tracy has worked for Lloyds Banking Group for 29 years and is an experienced Change Manager with an extensive knowledge of programme/project management and PMO across both Business and IT within LBG
In her current role as Head of Group Change Practice she is responsible for the processes & standards used for Programme & Project Management, PMO, Testing, Business Analysis & Architecture used across the Change Practitioners within the Group.

Session title: "Portfolio Management - Past, Present & Future"

How do we take key learnings from the past and enhance them to fit with the future world of change with ever evolving portfolio prioritisation needed?

We shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water, we need to be innovative to ensure we don’t repeat the mistakes of the past and put at risk our ambitions to ensure we build future portfolios at pace.

Richard Moor, Head of Portfolio, Royal Mail Letters and Network 

Richard Moor is a Registered Project Professional; member of the Association for Project Management and a graduate of Said Business School.

He is currently leading one of the largest transformation portfolios in UK industry, impacting on all 138,000 people employed across Royal Mail’s core operation. He heads up a professional programme, project and change management resource currently in excess of 400 people, responsible for delivering a combined portfolio of over 100 transformation projects with an annual investment of over £230m. Richard’s notable achievements in recent years include the installation of over 1,000 state of the art mail sorting machines; the introduction of modern working practices in parts of the Royal Mail delivery operation, including the effective deployment of over 68,000 digital handheld devices in support of both commercial and operational needs. All of this has enabled a headcount reduction supporting lower operational costs, as well as an increased customer product offering ensuring the financial stability of the Royal Mail Group.

Session title: The Journey of a Portfolio - Privatisation and beyond in Royal Mail

Transformational change was high on the agenda for Government as they sought ‘more for less’ from public sector funding.  The experience of Royal Mail transformation - from inefficient public sector monopoly provider to private sector organisation open to competition - over the last decade offers learning on all fronts on how to make such a transformational change programme work and what the secrets to success really are. In this presentation Richard will cover his portfolio journey and how he balances his portfolio today through funding, resource, and risk, to meet employee, customer and shareholder expectation.

Max van Vessem, Vice President and Head of Global Programme Management, Global Manufacturing and Supply, GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) 

Max van Vessem is currently Vice President and Head of Global Programme Management for Global Manufacturing and Supply at GlaxoSmithKline.  In his current role, he is responsible for managing Portfolios, Programmes and Projects, as well as Strategy Execution for the Manufacturing and Supply Division.  Most recently, he led a multi-year £160m Reinvestment Programme.  He has been with GSK since 1991 and has held several leadership positions including five years as Vice President and Site Leader for one of GSK’s Consumer Healthcare sites.  Mr. van Vessem is a member of the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.   He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Session title: Portfolio Management in a Global Manufacturing Environment

Managing a portfolio within a global environment requires prioritising the elements of corporate strategy while accounting for site capabilities, regulatory requirements, continuity of supply and customer satisfaction. Max will share his experience of managing large complex programmes to successful conclusions using the metrics necessary to maintain visibility of progress, manage risk and deliver financial and non-financial benefits.
