Aardman, The Making of Early Man – How to make a claymation epic
Bristol based Aardman Animations are famous world-wide for their claymation films, including Wallace and Gromit, Shawn the Sheep, Chicken Run and The Pirates. Their latest full-length feature film, Early Man, has just been released. Producer, Richard Beek, will discuss the processes used to bring the film to the big screen.
This is a unique opportunity to take a detailed look at the production processes behind making a major stop motion feature film. Exploring how the film develops from script/storyboard, to final shots. Production management of the creative process, planning, and statistical analysis. Puppet/set design, and build. A chance to see behind the scene footage and meet some of the characters in person!
Richard Beek has worked at Aardman for the past 17 years. Starting as a Runner on Chicken Run, he has become a key part of many of Aardman’s most loved projects: Creature Comforts (Floor Manager); Shaun the Sheep (Production Manager/Line Producer); Wallace & Gromit (2nd Assistant Director/Production Manager); and The Pirates! (Production Manager). Early Man is his first Producer credit on a feature film.
