How safe is SAFe for Arm IT?

Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge Campus, East Rd, Cambridge CB1 1PT

Implemented via a large agile transformation, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is Arm IT’s preferred approach to delivery.

Now that the transformation is complete, how can the Delivery Management Office (DMO) provide assurance for initiatives and find a balance between governance and delivery at pace?

Rob and Emma put down any rose-tinted glasses to share key learnings regarding context, people, and delivery (so you don’t have to feel the pain they did!).

Rob Negus – Director of Business Analysis, Delivery Management Office and Agile Centre of Excellence

Rob worked in the Local Government sector for 10 years in a number of roles before moving to Worldpay in 2012 as a Business Analyst. His first project was to transform Worldpay’s hosted payment pages which hadn’t been invested in for 10 years. In 4 ½ years in the Fintech sector, he progressed from being a Business Analyst to a Product Owner and eventually ran a team of Business Analysts and Project Managers as a Delivery Director.

In 2017, Rob moved to Arm and now wears 3 hats to ensure IT continuously improves its agile journey.

Emma Willcox – Staff Delivery Analyst

In 2017, Emma was a traditional PM working in a Corporate PMO being asked to comment on a new agile framework and approach to delivery in Arm IT. Like a duck out of water, she had to quickly adapt to her new surroundings.

Through helping Arm IT, Emma learned so much about agile frameworks, practices and techniques, that in early spring 2018, she joined the Delivery Management Office (DMO) in Arm IT. It was considered a controversial move but the Corporate PMO are slowing forgiving her!
