Open Exam - PMQ for Prince 2 Practitioners
Open Examination – Project Management Qualification
for PRINCE2® Practitioners
The range of qualifications developed by APM, the Chartered body for the project profession, offers a progressive structure for your career development, incorporating a mix of tools, techniques, processes and skills. APM arranges open exams for candidates who wish to self-study.
Open exams are available for the:
- APM Project Fundamentals Qualification;
- APM Project Management Qualification;
- APM Project Professional Qualification (PPQ);
- PMQ for PRINCE2* Practitioners and;
- Risk Certificate qualifications.
What is the APM Project Management Qualification?
The Project Management Qualification (PMQ) (SCQF Level 7) is a knowledge-based qualification that allows candidates to demonstrate understanding of all elements of project management.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these elements interact and how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment.
PMQ is an internationally recognised qualification, which can be carried from one job to another, or from one industry to another.
Who is this qualification for?
The APM Project Management Qualification is aimed at those wishing to achieve a broad level of project management knowledge sufficient to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects.
Applicants typically have some pre-existing project management knowledge, and it is the ideal next step for anyone holding the APM Project Fundamentals (PFQ) qualification.
What is the difference between the PMQ and the PMQ for PRINCE2® Practitioners?
PMQ develops your knowledge and understanding beyond your learning from PRINCE2®, to help you grow into a committed and capable project professional. It prepares you to deliver project success in critical areas such as budgeting and cost management, conflict management and teamwork.
There are 73 assessment criteria from the APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition examined in the syllabus. As 26 of these are covered by PRINCE2® Practitioner, you will only be examined on the remaining 47 assessment criteria, including communication, earned value management, procurement and negotiation.
You will be required to provide proof of your valid PRINCE2® Practitioner qualification on the day of the exam.
How can I study for this qualification?
This exam is self-study only as we do not offer any training. If you wish to undertake training, you can study through our Accredited Providers who offer the APM Project Management Qualification in many different formats including classroom, e-learning, distance learning, public and in-house courses.
The APM Project Management Qualification Study Guide is designed to support candidates taking the APM Project Management Qualification. The study guide references the syllabus, learning outcomes and assessment criteria aligned to the APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition.
The sample paper will also support you in preparing for your examination.
How do I apply for dispensations/adjustments for my examination?
APM is committed to promoting a positive attitude towards people with learning and physical needs. The dispensations we offer include, but are not limited to
