Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire branch
Planning, can we do without it?
Kevin Parry will offer an original and insightful look at why we find planning such a challenge in projects and programmes as well as what we can do about it.
Kevin will open with the question “why do we plan?” and explore the effect of not doing so well; how planning is at the core of successful delivery in the face of what are often challenging events; and circumstances throughout the life of the project. He will discuss what matters in planning, and some aspects of psychology motivation which have an important part to play. He will go on to talk about new developments in planning and how these might help us to manage complexity and co-ordinate diverse and physically separate teams.
Kevin is Deputy Director of Portfolio at NHS Digital and an experienced programme director. He is joint author of a book on managing change in organisations published in February this year by Kogan Page and is a Fellow of the APM. He is a Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire branch committee member and guest lecturer at the University of Manchester in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering.
