The group was formed to try to focus attention on these related issues:
- The statistical and anecdotal evidence of project failure attributed to lack of engagement;
- The lack of guidance or support for the topic in the APM BoK beyond a process for stakeholder management;
- Far too many projects fail due to a lack of stakeholder engagement;
- Stakeholders are generally considered late in PM process after key decisions have been taken and the causes of failure have been baked in.
The presentation will cover the role of the project sponsor, an important stakeholder, followed by a look at identification of stakeholders, how to classify them and how to communicate with them. A selection of tools & techniques will be discussed. This will be an open dialogue presentation with thoughts, ideas and comments welcome throughout the evening.
