Strategic alignment of portfolios to business goals

The Association for Project Management (APM) places the health, safety and well-being of its event delegates as its top priority.

Therefore, please note that this event has now been postponed. Revised  date to follow.

Great Northern Hotel, StationApproach, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE1 1Q

This event is aimed at experienced portfolio, project and programme managers, and will provide excellent networking opportunities for attendees, the ability to meet with fellow professionals on a more informal basis and the opportunity to hear experienced quest speakers on areas of topical interest.

It will provide delegates with an overview of portfolio management, focussed on strategic alignment of a portfolio to an organisation's goals. The session will include case studies from Yorkshire Building Society, Royal Mail and National Grid.

Portfolio Management is the selection, prioritisation and control of an organisation’s projects and programmes, in line with its strategic objectives and capacity to deliver.

Petula Allison and Richard Moor will focus on their personal experiences of prioritising change against strategy. They will cover how to manage a portfolio of change against the moving landscape of the markets that they operate in.

Petula and Richard have been part of a team of authors for one of the APMs latest publications – Portfolio Management a practical guide. The guide draws upon the experiences of more than 60 organisations and shared good practice on how portfolio management can optimise projects to deliver business value.

Petula Allison is an Enterprise Portfolio Manager, Programme and Change Planning specialist. She has experience in both the public and private sector and is currently working in Financial Services at the Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) as their Senior Change and Portfolio Planning Manager.

She is a member and appointed Co-Chair for the APM’s Portfolio Management SIG, which aims to provide a collaborative open forum for practitioners, and anyone with an interest Portfolio Management, to get together, share ideas, offer support and advice to the PMO community, and to create valuable practice-oriented knowledge, which helps drive Portfolio management

Richard Moor is both a Chartered and Registered Project Professional; Fellow of the Association for Project Management, and committee member of the Portfolio Management SIG. Richard is currently introducing Portfolio Management into National Grid, helping align change to strategic priorities whilst delivering against business expectation. In the past he led one of the largest transformation portfolios in UK industry, impacting on all 138,000 people employed across Royal Mail’s core operation. Richard is passionate about career development and is leading on a career development initiative at National Grid as well as mentoring externally.
