SWWE branch dinner, with Dr David Hillson - The Risk Doctor. The challenges and joys of life long risk taking.

Double Tree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre, Redcliffe Way, Bristol, BS1 6NJ

The SWWE annual branch dinner is the highlight of the year's events, and we are delighted to have Dr David Hillson, The Risk Doctor, as our after-dinner speaker, taking an entertaining alternative look at life and risk.

Everyone knows that risk is related to reward: 'You’ve got to take one to get the other', but we often forget that in our personal lives. David claims that his motto “Take risk safely” applies to all of life, and not just at work.

Taking Shakespeare’s “Seven Ages of Man” as a framework, he takes us through life from cradle-to-grave, viewed from a risk perspective, illustrated with his own real-life experiences (good and bad), and providing important insights about risk along the way. You’re sure to find the journey entertaining and instructive, and you may even learn something that helps you take risks safely at work.

Dr David Hillson is The Risk Doctor, and he leads The Risk Doctor Partnership. He is recognised internationally as a leading thinker and expert practitioner in risk management.

He writes and speaks widely on the topic, with eleven major books, and many papers on risk. David has received multiple awards for his work in developing risk management over many years, including being recognised as the inaugural “Risk Personality of the Year” (2010-11), by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), where he is also a Chartered Fellow.

He has received honorary fellowships from the UK Association for Project Management (APM) and the Project Management Institute (PMI®), and he has been elected as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA).
