What you need to know about PMOs
Jurys Inn Aberdeen, Guild Street, Aberdeen, AB11 5RG
Ever wondered what a PMO does? If you already have a PMO, could it be running better? The APM’s PMO SIG will explain what a PMO is, how to make it run well and how to implement one in your organisation. Examples from across sectors and industries will be used.
In this uniquely interactive, entertaining and informative session, the PMO SIG will level the playing field for those who are confused about what Project Management Office is and what it can bring to an organisation.
It is also aimed at those looking to improve the value their PMO brings to their business, including PMO practitioners, portfolio managers, project/programme managers or business leaders.
With interaction from the audience, the speaker will provide a comprehensive overview of a PMO, whilst providing an opportunity to share experiences and current thinking with those who are interested in working better with or even learning more about PMOs of all shapes and sizes.
It will cover, among other things:
- How to implement a PMO, outlining a route map taking you from scratch to a working unit.
- Case studies and illustrations of where a PMO has worked and where it hasn’t (and why).
- As the oil and gas industry is under cost pressure, pointers to how to “sell” a PMO to your organisation.
The PMO SIG prides itself on thinking outside of the box and providing insightful and enjoyable events for APM members and those looking to get more involved.
