Accounts Commission publishes report on major projects in Scottish local government.

The report identifies that councils spend significant amounts of money on building and maintaining infrastructure - more than any other part of the public sector - but lack sufficient information for fully effective scrutiny. The report makes a number of recommendations to improved the governance of major capital projects, the need for better information to allow effective scrutiny of major projects and whether they are being completed to budget and on time and finally to improve the tracking of their benefits.

The report can be accessed here.
