On the 12th November APM London branch hosted the "APM Young Project Professional of the Year" event which was sponsored by Deloitte, who’s employee Luke Streeter picked up the most recent prize.

Luke delivered two parts of the presentation, which covered training and top tips for you Project Managers.

Luke gave the audience valuable advice on a range of different qualifications available to both junior level and senior level professionals. He explained the benefits of the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification and discussed his decision to hold off applying for chartership so that he could make his route more meaningful to his career.

Luke went on to provide important advice for professionals in the industry and related these to a number of case study projects that he’d worked on; his work for Heathrow Airport won him the award, so the audience found his commentary on the way he managed up to 50 team members inspiring. Luke also explained that he was able to select jobs based on their learning potential, such as his role as a Bid Manager for Transport Systems Catapult, which made his audience think about their own roles in the industry.

Louise, who is Luke's line manager, then went on to speak about working in a project management consultancy and gave advice to beginner project managers on what employers look for when recruiting.

The presentation was very well received and the APM would like to congratulate Luke on his efforts and thank Deloitte for their contribution.
