There have been a record number of 21 nominations for the APM board elections. Full members are strongly encouraged to help steer their Association and profession by voting for their preferred candidates and electing 3 new board members who will act as company directors and charity trustees.

Voting opens on 10 October 2016 and closes at midnight on 10 November 2016.

In 2014 APM had a board of 12 elected trustees (who must be Full members[1])   However, the board agreed to reduce the number of elected board members from 12 to 9 over a period of three years.  Consequently, in 2015 four board members stood down and three were elected.  The same will happen this year and in 2017 to reach the target size of nine.

As a membership body, APM has a democratic process for electing its board. This is fundamental for APM – the board needs to be comprised of committed, high calibre, experienced individuals.

The board has several critical, high level roles. These include approving the strategic direction of the organisation and acting as ‘guardian’ of the charitable assets. Scrutiny and assurance of APM’s delivery is also a key element of the role. Regulations set out the issues which the board must decide and those matters which are delegated to staff. Board members agree issues collectively; individuals have no executive authority or powers unless specifically delegated to them by the board.

This year, the board wishes to expressly highlight that it is keen to have a diverse board with a mix of skills, experiences, sectors and backgrounds.

Personal statements from each candidate can be found online where you can read their answers to questions about their experience, skills and vision for APM. Full members will be posted a voting pack by Electoral Reform Services.

You can also ask the candidates questions via a chat feature on the ERS website.

There are three easy ways for you to cast your vote:

  1. Online: the quickest and easiest way is to vote online – all you need is your unique security code printed on your ballot paper.
  2. By SMS: simply send a text message from your mobile phone as instructed in the voting pack.
  3. By post: return your completed ballot paper in the pre-paid envelope.

Once you have read all the information and made your decision please cast your vote by midnight on Thursday 10 November 2016

We look forward to receiving your vote and welcoming your chosen candidates to the board in November. The results of the ballot will be announced at this year’s AGM and all members are welcome to attend.
