Dr Jon Broome, chair of the Contracts and Procurement SIG presented to Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire branch in November 2009 on successful contracting for benefits.

The presentation covered, need and opportunity - for example what are the benefits tostakeholders. Jon alsospecifically looked at the evolution of contracting strategies in the construction and heavy engineering industries and principles of risk allocation and sharing.

Jon concluded the presentation by reviewing the key challenges to contracting for benefits and made suggestions for the future.

The session was well received bydelegates and in line with the Contract & Procurement SIGs mission, Jon spoke about organising a facilitated event in early 2010, where the issues andchallenges can bedefined and potential solutionsare identified.
