Coursesmart deal creates virtual bookshelf for students
Posted by APM on 6th Mar 2014
For the first time all of APMs core publications will be available to rent online. The agreement with leading etextbook provider Coursesmart will see the associations entire backlist, including the APM Body of Knowledge 6th edition (BoK) , accessible to students and learning providers for up to 360 days. All rental titles will be discounted by 30 per cent.
The service will enable students to create their own virtual bookshelf, which can be accessed anytime, anywhere (online or offline) from multiple devices including tablets and smartphones. Other benefits include a quick search facility, bookmarks and note taking.
For learning providers higher educational institutes and accredited trainers the option exists to licence course materials on per student basis. There is also seamless integration with popular virtual learning environments such as Blackboard Learn.
Nick Nunnington from Hong Kong-based training provider Reach, which offers APMP course materials via a mobile learning platform, explains the benefits: As we develop our learning materials in the Blackboard Mobile environment we can use Coursesmart to create deep linking to the BoK and other materials so for example, if we create some multiple choice questions to reinforce the understanding of core concepts, if students get the answer wrong it will take them back to the point of learning in the BoK.
He added: We believe mobile learning is very effective for this type of training as it allows 24/7 anywhere access to busy professionals and works on any mobile device.
