On the 11th May 2016, the North East branch held an event in Durham helping project managers better understand the vital role social media plays within business today and how they can in turn project manage a business' use of social media to provide demonstrable business benefits.
Anne-Marie Bailey, the speaker on the night, guided delegates through the basic principles of social media in business today, before addressing the issue and challenges of identifying influencers, building online communities and ultimately using online channels to benefit businesses.
The presentation then provided tips and examples of tools available to project managers to help them truly become 'social' on social media – finding influencers, forming relationships and creating communities.
Anne-Marie concluded by illustrating a selection of models and best practice guides to be employed when project managing social media onbehalf of a client or as part of your in-house duties, as well as discussing relevant metrics for measurement and evaluation to demonstrate outputs, outcomes and business benefits.
