From Cinderella to fairy queen - achieving change in these difficult times
The November meeting of the APM East of England Group in Norwich was hosted by the Theatre Royal in Norwich. Fuelled by some seasonal goodies, we heard an excellent talk, delivered by Peter Wilson, Chief Executive of Norwich's Theatre Royal since 1992.
Peter explained how the theatre was refurbished on a small budget and an even smaller time scale. The expansion and refurbishment was needed as the old theatre was in need of a make-over in order to keep its appeal with both the public and the show Directors. The vision was to create a theatre that would attract popular shows in their pre-London warm up and has proved very successful - an excellent example of project management disciplines being used to the full to benefit the local community.
