London branch BIM breakfast: 26th February
APM London branch's first business breakfast this year was an event providing an introduction to BIM and the role of the project manager.
Speakers were Rahul Shah Head of BIM, Lend Lease Europe who gave an introduction to BIM and an overview of Level 2 BIM and UK BIM standards. Rahul has been using and implementing computer aided design (CAD) and BIM technologies in the architecture, engineering and construction industry for more than fourteen years in various roles. He has ‘BIM managed’ a variety of projects from small to large-scale and led efforts to migrate practices from 2D CAD to 3D BIM-based project delivery. He has properly experienced BIM implementation and management first hand.
George Mokhtar, Turner & Townsend discussed how the role of the Project Manager is affected by BIM, offered some tips and tricks, and provided a client perspective regarding the implementation of BIM. George is an experienced BIM manager at Turner & Townsend, defining, implementing and controlling BIM processes for projects worldwide with a depth of specialist skills and knowledge, including BIM authoring, open source BIM, analysis, validation, information development, exchange and structuring techniques.
