The PM Challenge finals night and Stonehenge presentation
Posted by APM on 5th Mar 2014
Year 2 Business Management students once again represented Bournemouth University in the APM Wessex Branch PM Challenge this year. Fifteen teams presented their project proposals back in October and five teams were selected by a panel of judges to go to the semi-finals at the Ageas Bowl in November. APM then selected three teams to go forward, with sponsorship and mentoring, to deliver their projects and compete in the finals. All fifteen student teams went on to deliver their projects.
The finals of the PM Challenge were held at St. Mary's Stadium, home of Southampton FC, and whilst the judges were deliberating on the winners there was an interesting presentation on the management of the construction project for the new visitor centre at Stonehenge from Simon Clark of Vinci Construction.
Congratulations to the winners who were the 'Delightful Deals and Delicious Meals' team of Emily Wastie, Darlene Tipping and Joe Howard. The team gave an engaging presentation on their use of project management techniques to deliver a project to promote money saving ideas and healthy eating to students using social media. The judges were particularly impressed with the objective appraisal of the project outcomes, incorporation of feedback to enhance future project reporting, discussion of the less successful aspects and lessons learnt.
The projects delivered by the two runners up were a business development project for Bournemouth SME Chocol8, and design of a visitor trail at Highcliffe Castle.
