John Zachar joined the Birmingham Chapter and delegates at an evening of lively debate on What is going to ruin my day? Johns presentation covered the very nervous area where stakeholders define your projects success so ignore them at your peril. After all, it is the stakeholders who look to the success of your project once it is out of your control and if no one uses the outcome and they hated the experience was it a success in the eyes of the stakeholders?

More importantly, identifying the project's stakeholders, assessing them, and determining how they should be managed is a part of that process. Understanding what a stakeholder is, where they come from, the roles and attitudes that they are likely to take on and their responsibilities is only the beginning. Likewise, what do your stakeholders want and expect from you?

Those attending commented on the value of Johns presentation saying that this was a very pragmatic approach for identifying stakeholders, the difficulties with them and how to get them on side was an invaluable source of direction. Although delivered at a fast pace, this was understandable due to the high volume of information given at the presentation.

Graduate project manager profile

12 May 2017

I was very proud to have been named 2016 Young Project Manager of the Year for the Midlands. Following my early career change I have worked hard to build a career in this industry, so to have gained this kind of recognition was very gratifying.
