Synopsis

CPD self-directed learning: how to maximise informal learning & development opportunities

Informal learning and development opportunities are all around us, happening every day in our careers – yet we don’t always consider them as continued professional development (CPD). In this session, Lucy will talk through tools and techniques that you, as project professionals, can use to maximise the benefit from informal learning and development opportunities and make them count in your own CPD plan.

The session will include:

  • Self-coaching
  • Learning logs
  • Doing a training needs analysis (TNA) on yourself to identify your training gap
  • Finding credible learning opportunities
  • Learning styles
  • Learning hacks
  • Personality and learning
  • Autodidactic Learning (the Wikipedia definition of this is ‘Autodidacticism or self-education is education without the guidance of masters or institutions. Generally, autodidacts are individuals who choose the subject they will study, their studying material, and the studying rhythm and time’. However, as Lucy will explain, you want to choose something that helps build your career!)
