Owen Salvage

With over 30 years experience, Owen Salvage has worked in project and operational roles within engineering and Information Services: locally, internationally and globally across many sectors including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, consulting and power generation. Many insights have come from dealing with a wide range of challenges and looking at numerous problems from different angles and reflecting on lessons, every step of the way.

Owen is currently with ABB performing global roles, for many years in the ERP arena, and has led a series of assignments building new capabilities within ABB’s IS group. Recently this assignment has been the design, build and implementation of a global IS Project delivery organisation [350 people, $00’sm portfolio] as part of a company wide transformation programme over the past 3 years. And now, Owen has established a new group, working with Data across the IS organisation, to set the stage for digital enablement and development of the IS landscape. His 'personal quest' for solutions has been pivotal in the use of low cost innovations to manage large scale initiatives as well as developing tools to understand how teams function within a situational context.

Presentation title: Building and getting value from a Global Change Delivery Capability
Synopsis: Owen will talk about ABB’s approach to establishing a global co-ordinated Project Delivery function within the IS-Delivery arm of this 150,000 strong Engineering Organisation. This journey involved building a 1,500 strong PPM community across its multi hundred-million dollar change portfolio – the original vision, the successes and challenges and how they managed through those challenges. Owen will focus on the initial stages to develop the community, leadership, first level operations and quality of information, and will close on a discussion of the predictive analytics and big data capability he is building now the quality of information has reached an appropriate level of maturity.
