Session title: Governance in major projects –the importance of a strong legal framework.
Synopsis: In this talk, Nichola will consider the importance of ensuring a strong legal framework around your project to drive clarity and avoid disputes.
There is often a difference of opinion as to whether lawyers complicate or clarify projects. Whilst poorly drafted contracts will cause more problems than they solve, the right legal framework will help the entire team to deliver.
Looking at the most common legal routes for setting up and managing a major project and some more bespoke scenarios we will discuss how the contractual matrix can support strong risk management and help to ensure deliverability against the project aims, and how choosing the right procurement route is a fundamental risk management strategy.
