Tom Frost is the Head of Shell Project Academy with responsibility for the capability building, assessment and growth of various project communities in Shell. Tom brings his considerable front line project experience into this position through a strong background in project delivery with roles in oil and gas upstream capital projects. He has worked on projects for / in Gabon, Russia, United Kingdom, South Korea, The Netherlands, Nigeria, United Arab Emirates and Iraq. In his most recent project delivery assignment he was responsible for setting up and running a Brownfield portfolio projects organisation in Iraq. He has many stories to share from his diverse experience ranging from evading angry animals in Africa to clearing minefields in Iraq (all with varying levels of risk management capability required!).
Tom is an APM Fellow, RPP and an IMechE Fellow.
Session title: The Shell Project Management Framework – leveraging capability to deliver results
Synopsis: The Shell Project Management Framework was a core part of the 2017 winning Project Management Company of the Year award submission. The new Framework relies on fewer controls, a deeper application of risk management and greater competence of people. Tom will highlight the challenges and opportunities faced by Shell in its implementation, along with some personal experiences from his time delivering Shell projects around the world.
