Phil HardyPhil Hardy

APM North West Network Committee member

Phil has 40 years of industrial experience of national and international process plant design, engineering, construction, operation and commissioning services. His experience covers a wide range of industries including minerals processing, paper & board manufacture, fine & bulk chemicals production and the pharmaceutical industry.

Ten years of employment with Atkins, now part of the SNC-Lavalin group, also brought experience of water and wastewater treatment facilities and the nuclear industry.

Phil is a Fellow of both the I Chem E and APM. Since retirement he has continued professional links by promoting Chemical Engineering in schools and through involvement with the APM NW Network as a long-standing Committee member, including 4 years as Chairman.

He is also currently a Dissertation Supervisor for the Management of Projects MSc course at the Manchester University School of MACE.

Through Phil is a keen tennis player amongst other interests.

Continuing project scope changes can become the stuff of nightmares for Project Managers. Their effects can derail schedules, absorb large amounts of management time and trigger disputes.

This interactive session will examine the need to establish a full and accurate project scope as soon as possible in the design and/or implementation phase of a project.

The need to avoid disruption from early scope changes is an important requirement in achieving the planned objectives and promoting project success.
