PMO of the Year Award 2021
This category is designed for those PMOs that want to stand out as a beacon of driving project success and project management maturity in the way that they enable their organisations to deliver successful and sustainable change, develop project community and challenge themselves to become trusted business partners.
The judges are looking for evidence of a PMO’s positive contribution to their organisation, delivery of consistent and demonstrable outcomes and development of the project management capability and community.
We require entrants to this category to produce a submission of up to 3,000 words detailing how they have met the judging criteria. Entrants may also submit up to four supporting images or graphics only (no text apart from captions). Video and audio is not accepted as part of the submission.
The PMO of the year award consists of two stages, the first stage is the written submission mentioned above and the second stage requires all finalists to present virtually to a panel of judges. It is open to organisations across all sectors globally.

PROJECT: Government of Montserrat PMO
ENTERED BY: Martin Parlett
Montserrat's Programme Management Office has achieved rapid success as a respected and impactful PMO in a uniquely challenging delivery and funding context, Despite our youth and size, our PMO (like Montserrat itself) punches above its weight, and holds important lessons for PMO innovation and implementation within the international community, as well as how to focus on the human and psychological impacts of transformational change.
We look forward to the opportunity to elaborate upon our PMO experience at the next stage.
PROJECT: NFU Mutual PMO
ENTERED BY: Hannah Latham
We are proud to be the PMO team at NFU Mutual! We stand apart by putting our customers at the heart of everything we do, caring about our people and building a sense of community in our team. We have re-invented ourselves from the ground up, developing an ambitious programme of continuous improvement with a clear strategy.
PROJECT: United Utilities PMO
ENTERED BY: Gareth Mills
Our submission covers the UU PMO Transformation Project. After what has been an incredibly challenging year for the company, as a PMO we have supported the delivery of an outstanding set of results. Outcome Delivery Incentives are a measure used by OFWAT to monitor our performance. They are designed with customers to make sure our objectives align with things that matter most to them.
If we exceed these targets, we unlock significant financial out performance rewards. If we fail to meet them we incur a penalty. We have had an excellent year in Outcome Delivery Incentives performance. We have achieved Fast Track status for our company business plan. The PMO has played a significant part in this success.
