As director of major programmes for Openreach, Andrew Hepburn is responsible for delivering fibre broadband infrastructure across Scotland and northern England, both commercially and in partnership with the public sector.
In the last five years he led the deployment of superfast fibre broadband across Scotland, with a capital portfolio value of £800m+ and responsibility for a project team of more than 100 people.
This massive civil engineering challenge, in some of the most difficult and most remote terrain in Europe, was delivered on time and under budget, extending fibre broadband access to more than 95 per cent of Scottish homes and businesses.
A Chartered Engineer with more than eighteen years’ experience across the defence and telecoms industries, Andrew started his engineering career with BAE Systems in 2000.
He is a graduate of Napier University in Edinburgh, a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (EIT) and a founding member of the Openreach board in Scotland, which brings together senior leaders to plan investment and collaborate.
