Purpose 

To drive the volunteering activities and the growth of their community, in close collaboration with APM staff and volunteers involved with their Regional Network.

Eligibility 

Aged 18 years or over.  

Associate, Full or Fellow member with at least one year’s APM membership. 

APM’s onboarding process is to be completed by all volunteers. 

Expectations

  • Lead, maintain and develop a vibrant local community, facilitating knowledge exchange, networking and outreach. 
  • Lead and guide the Network Volunteer Team, to identify and deliver that will benefit the members of the Regional Network community and the project profession (e.g.: CPD and networking events, outreach to prospective members, awards and competitions, cross-profession relationships, initiatives for students and emerging professionals and collaboration with corporates). 
  • Attend and lead all the Regional Network (monthly) meetings. 
  • Monthly report on the planned activities and the actions agreed in Network meetings. The reporting can be delegated to the Deputy Regional Network Lead. 
  • Work with APM staff to enable planned initiatives and actions. i.e. for venues and resources required.

Estimated time commitment 

  • On average, between 8 and 16 hours per month, with various levels of time commitment depending on the Network activity and peak times. 
  • Attendance at (monthly) Network meetings and events. The expectation is that the Network Lead will attend all meetings. 
  • Attendance at cross-Network meetings. In case of non-availability, attendance can be delegated to the Deputy Regional Network Lead. 
  • Availability by email for correspondence with other APM Network volunteers and staff.  
  • The Network Lead will be appointed for a two-year term, with an opportunity to step down after one year if they require.  
  • The Network Lead will have the opportunity to be re-appointed for a max of 2 consecutive terms (4 consecutive years), and for a maximum of 8 consecutive years across both leadership roles (Lead and Deputy).  

Evaluation criteria 

  • Commitment and enthusiasm. 
  • Communication, stakeholder engagement and leadership skills. 
  • Knowledge of APM’s strategic objectives and activities, and alignment with APM’s values. 
  • Established network of external contacts in the region (e.g. HEIs, corporates, subject matter experts). 
  • Regional awareness of industry sectors. 
  • Time availability.
