David Gunning

Head of Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (NFU Mutual Insurance Society)

My career started at Legal & General dealing with the mis-sold ‘endowment policies’. I left to join the Metropolitan Police as a Police Officer spending a few years in operational and intelligence roles, moving into Counter Terrorism at the time of the July 2005 terrorist attacks. I worked on national security projects to protect and prepare the UK from attacks.

As Programme Manager I was seconded to a unit within the Association of Chief Police Officers Terrorism & Allied Matters, working with the Foreign and Home Office. I returned to the Metropolitan Police working in the Counter Terrorism Command planning for the 2012 Olympics.

In 2015, I joined the Office for National Statistics as Head of Portfolio Design also performing roles as Head of Delivery and Head of Portfolio Management.

In 2018, I joined NFU Mutual and have been Portfolio Manager, Head of Portfolio Management and currently the Head of EPMO.
