Tom White

Head of Portfolio Development, DEFRA

Tom’s role is about establishing and maturing the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs portfolio management design and approach. He has worked across several departments supporting a full spectrum of projects and programmes, from small commercial projects to large scale service transformation. He has extensive experience in initiating major change programmes, implementing delivery standards across portfolios, and establishing ‘centre of excellence’ functions.

Tom lives in rural Nottinghamshire with his partner and 6-year-old son. Before joining the civil service, he worked across the Financial Services sector, predominantly in compliance, leadership and coaching roles. He has recently completed his MBA and is an avid supporter and season ticket holder at Newcastle United.
